RBS Aberdeen
Havelock Contract Interiors was engaged as the fit-out contractor to deliver the Royal Bank of Scotland branch design to an existing major site in Union Street, Aberdeen. The goal of the project was to recreate the RBS model by implementing the standardised branch design over the four floors of the site.
Working in partnership with project management consultants MACE and appointed architects Lewis and Hickey, HCI provided all trades contracting, mechanical, electrical and required structural alterations to ensure the project was delivered to the RBS specification and client brief.
Lower running cost, greater efficiency and larger periods between maintenance, minimise disruption and decrease consumption of electricity improving the environment credentials. HCI refurbished the vacant upper 2nd and 3rd floors to completion including training, clerical, staff room and toilets to allow all staff to be relocated from the first floor. This was followed by the first floor to provide additional business cash positions and interview rooms all prior to the phased refurbishment for the ground floor. The ground and first floor refurbishments were linked by the requirement to supply, install and utilise a new Bullion Hoist.
To ensure no disruptions to branch operations, all works were scheduled out-with branch trading hours. Key to the successful delivery of the project was regular communication between Havelock Contract Interiors project management team, RBS branch manager and MACE project team, communicating progress, phasing of works and any temporary implications to RBS staff.
HCI project team used their banking and retail experience to ensure an exact translation of the RBS retail banking design concept. Another key factor to the success was combining the creation of an open plan feel using lighting and finishes to create a retail environment with a series of interview suites to enable RBS staff to take time in the right environment to discuss financial products and plans with customers.
“We would like to pass on our thanks and congratulations for the fantastic job that has been completed at St Nics, the branch and the region are delighted with their new surroundings. It is apparent that the great relationship built up on site with the branch team contributed to the success of the project.” RBS
