Boots

Boots Health Hall 2 initiative was created to provide a healthcare environment that had significant impact on the in-store customer, replicating the success the Boots beauty department brand has achieved. The main aim was to revitalise the health area within Boots stores and showcase healthcare products in the Boots retail environment.

Working in partnership with Boots and designers Virgille Stone, Havelock Europa was engaged to develop the original concept and create a differentiated in-store experience for the Boots Healthcare brand. The new concept used the whole environment to emphasise the brand, with new lighting, co-ordinated flooring, furniture and point of sale fixtures were introduced.

The design reinforced Boots brand heritage introducing timber effect wood to the front of the counters. The use of colour was utilised with key shading on floor surfaces to guide customers to the new Healthcare department clearly marking out the healthcare environment from the rest of the Boots store. When completed it provided a real sense of department throughout, raising the profile of healthcare within the large store.

The design team at Havelock Europa used their retail manufacturing experience to adapt the original concept to reduce the onsite installation process and thus minimise any disruption to site operations such as noise and dust pollution. The design was initially trailed in Bedford, Leamington Spa, and Plymouth high street stores over a period of seven months from design and development to project delivery. Further to the project success the scheme has been rolled out to additional stores.
