Lloyds TSB
The your store design project was a key vehicle to differentiate the Lloyds TSB brand in the retail banking market. With the goal of ensuring good communication between Lloyds TSB staff and both personal and business banking customers the Your Store Design project brought essential retail elements such as lighting, signage and use of space to create a ‘relaxed’ space conducive to clear communication and financial discussion.
Simple elements such as incorporating a welcome desk prominently in the entrance of branches and staffing it with personable staff enabled Lloyds TSB to ensure customers were personally greeted on arrival. This simple feature ensured the impact of the new branch scheme was immediate on the customer, ensuring not only an increase in the standard of customer service, immediately differentiating the Lloyds TSB brand, but also it ensured internal branch traffic was efficiently streamed at all times.
With a fourteen year working partnership, Havelock Europa was one of four contractors engaged to develop client’s concept to create a retail environment in the bank sector. Initial concepts were created by in-house Lloyds TSB design team and interpreted by Havelock Europa’s retail and banking design team to ensure durability of product, ease of installation, and of course engineered to minimise project cost to client. The close working relationship between Havelock Europa and Lloyds TSB teams ensured each phase of the product development, approval, prototyping, manufacturing and installation process ran smoothly.
Havelock Europa to date have delivered five projects of the original Lloyds design concept, in prominent high street locations in Hull, Norwich, Cheapside, Birmingham and London Law Courts which required sensitive incorporation of the concept into list building features such as panelled counters. The core products selected by Havelock Europa for these projects were powder coated mild steel, powder coated MDF (severe use standard), acrylic and aluminium.
The projects were managed to minimise disruption to branch trading with close project management to carry out works out with working hours. Installation was phased over several weeks to ensure co-ordination between trades and services.
