Shortlisted in the Top 100 companies to work for by the Times, Deloitte are committed to ensuring their staff have the best working environments. As part of their commitment, Deloitte reviewed their social spaces used for eating and informal meetings.

HCI were engaged by Deloitte to create a series of modern café environments in their Reading head quarters. The design and build project was awarded to HCI in recognition of their ability to create client value without compromising design.

A total of four café areas were created at the Reading office. HCI had responsibility for concept and detailed design, furniture procurement and project management.

To ensure no impact to the client’s operations all works were scheduled out-with normal working hours with each zone returned to full operational status at the end of each shift. The HCI team accelerated the project schedule to ensure the works were completed over four consecutive weekends, completing a café zone each weekend.

The way in which the HCI design team incorporated the Deloitte brand into their designs was crucial to their success. The solution is a classic cafe environment, which has a dynamic feel to it because the company’s values are carefully brought into surroundings.
