Travelodge

Travelodge operate more than 330 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain accounting for some 20,000 rooms. Owned by Dubai International Capital, Travelodge currently employs 5,000 staff across its hotels and newly formed travel insurance operation.

The budget hotel sector has grown strongly since the companies formation in 1985, averaging more than a 5% year on year growth. With the success of the current brand formula and favourable market conditions Travelodge has strengthened its growth strategy. Their mission is to be the largest hotel operator in London by the 2012 Olympics and increase their international hotel portfolio to 1000 hotels and 70,000 rooms.

Havelock has been working in partnership with Travelodge since 2003, manufacturing, supplying and installing all guestroom case goods, room-sets, modular reception desks and bespoke fittings for Café Bar and food areas.

Working closely with the client HCI’s detailed design and production teams have re-engineered the products to ensure economy is achieved without detriment to product finish or durability. The process has been a significant success.

Value engineering has achieved approximately 30% cost savings through design to achieve optimal material usage. Environmental impact has been improved through material selection from Havelock’s extensive and environmentally accredited supply chain with incorporation of particle board made from timber waste reducing each products carbon footprint.

The traditional light oak finishes were replaced by a contemporary ‘Zebrano’ finish in early 2008 to reflect Travelodge’s market and brand positioning. To date HCI has manufactured and installed approximately 20,000 rooms. The success of the relationship which has been built on client service, product quality and HCI’s ability to meet Travelodge’s aggressive growth is reflected by the recently signed sole supplier agreement.
